What is the Kindness Youth Leadership Team (KYLT)?

We are a group of high school students from across the Kansas City area, who are interested in making our world a better place. We are willing to work to make kindness ripple throughout our schools and community. We achieve these main goals:

  1. From August through April, learn leadership, communication, organizational and inspirational skills.
  2. Bring SevenDays® to your school, use our resources to introduce and encourage whole school participation.
  3. Increase SevenDays® participation within your personal circles – groups, clubs, friends and family.
  4. Be a Kindness influencer. Take action and be a role model for kindness.

SevenDays® KYLT Job Description & Responsibilities:

In order to be accepted to our team, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Be a current high school student
  2. Be able to attend 2-hour monthly KYLT meetings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. – mostly at QC Holdings- 8208 Melrose Drive, Lenexa KS. Meeting Dates – Aug. 27 (Welcome Party), Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, Dec. 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, Mar. 11, Mar. 25 (work day), April 1 (Breakfast Set Up after school – 6 p.m.), April 22 (Ending Party). The monthly meetings will include at least one of the following agenda items: 
    • learn the mission and initiatives of SevenDays®
    • work to bring SevenDays® to your school – with help and resources
    • learn leadership, communication, organizational and inspirational skills
    • be a Kindness influencer! – Weekly, do kind actions and post kind social media (if you have it)
    • help plan a SevenDays event (Kindness Breakfast or other) – with help and resources
    • have fun through team bonding –  teens from a variety of area schools
    • learn and understand differences within our global community – including religion, race, disabilities, etc.
  3. Attend at least one optional event, which may include: 
    • KYLT Book Club- dates & times TBD by members
    • SevenDays Press Conference- date & time TBD by Ruth Bigus
    • Community service projects or diversity understanding activities- dates & times TBD by KYLT
  4. Work on your own time to complete work discussed in meetings
  5. Follow @GiveSevenDays. Like, comment, and share @GiveSevenDays posts.
  6. Promote SevenDays® on your personal social media 
  7. Attend the Kindness Breakfast (April 2, 2025)- Breakfast Committee ONLY
  8. Attend another event, Date TBD in April- Other KYLT Planning team ONLY
  9. Bring SevenDays content to your school-  with help and resources
  10. Communicate promptly (within 24 hours) to any communication (email, text, groupme, etc.) regarding SevenDays®. Excluding holidays and times when school is scheduled to be out of session.
  11. Be available for the time commitment- 1-2 meetings monthly plus time on your own in-between meetings to complete tasks. (3-8 hours a month, 30 mins. -2 hours a week.) Please confirm the above meeting dates work with your schedule!
